Datan in pinoy slang is old or as in Tan-da.

Call it coincidence or whatever, I was watching Law and Order where a detective posing as pedophile was arranging a "special trip to the Philippines" to meet young boys. A man who was a doctor was also arrested for adopting orphans from Asian countries to make them as his toyboys.

At the end of the episode, there was a disclaimer that the story was just a fiction.

This morning, I came across the story.

LOS ANGELES -Edilberto Datan was indicted last Friday on child pornography charges after images of underage boys were found in his luggage upon his return trip from his native Philippines, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorities said.

The 60-year old Datan was arrested November 4 at the Los Angeles Airport after airport authorities belonging to the US Customs and Border Protection found four memory sticks, or memory chips for digital cameras, in his luggage as well as a digital camera that allegedly contained around 100 sexually explicit images of Filipino boys who are believed to be underaged.

The retired auditor was also charged with producing, importing, and possessing child pornography.

While the images on the seized memory sticks appear to be youths from the Philippines, authorities are concerned there may be victims in Southern California as well. Datan served as a volunteer at a community center in the San Diego area and also reportedly worked with troubled youths.
