Rio Diaz succcumbed to colon cancer at Seton Hospital, Daly City. She fought for six years,longer than those who were afflicted of the same kind of C.

The long fight can be attributed to her faith and the best medical attention that she got from the US hospitals.

Her husband Charlie Cojuangco is practically an absentee governor of a province in Visayas to attend to her.
