Liar, Liar, Liar

Dear mouse,

So what did I tell you. The Pope is no longer running the Catholic Church as claimed by some spokesperson of the Vatican City.

So who is the caretaker or caretakers?

Ailing Pope is no longer actively running Catholic Church, spokesman indicates

The Vatican indicated for the first time yesterday that Pope John Paul was no longer actively running the Catholic Church. In a statement announcing that the ailing pontiff was now being fed through a tube in his nose, his spokesman said merely that the pontiff was "following" the church's activities.

The latest disclosure about the Pope's treatment came shortly after he had again tried and failed to speak in public. His spokesman, JoaquĆn Navarro Valls, made clear that the leader of the world's biggest Christian denomination is, for the moment at least, an invalid who spends "many hours" in an armchair.

Hmphhh

cat...the vatican is a tiny state that has its own govt. the Pope heads the Vatican, with him is the Roman Curia, the entire body of officially established agencies which assists the Pope in the governance of the Universal Church. The Secretariat of State and the Council for the Public Affairs of the Church,is the highest level of authority within the Church and the Vatican. Together with this is the Apostolic Camera, the Prefecture for the Economic Affairs of the Holy See, the Administration of the Patrimony of the Holy See and Prefecture of the Papal Household and the General Statistics office of the Church. There are also Councils and Commissions and committees, tribunals including the Roman Rota, the Apostolic Signatura and the Apostolic Penitentiary (not a jail). When the Pope teaches formally, authoritatively and infallibly, he is said to speak "ex cathedra" ("from the chair") thus denoting the teaching's official, solemn and binding nature on all the world's Catholics and the faithful with regards to faith and morals. so now, that the Pope is ailing, the Vatican is still working, the entire governance of the Church will not stop, because there is still the Curia that takes care of all of these. But for now, there won't be any encyclicals or Papal Bulls (not the Bull used in the Arena)The Pope is the only one who can do this. Upon his death the next Pope can do this and still the Curia works with the new Pope and so on. This is how layman explanation I can get....frat

our Priest mentioned this to us yesterday. He requested that we say a prayer for the Pope. He doubt that he will get any better but still, as he said, it is still God's will and miracles do happen.

Even if there is a miracle, i rather see him rest in peace. he has lived a full life. it's time for him to rest. This is not even mercy killing.
