Pulitzer Prize Winners All

Dear Mouse,
Siguro wala sa ating masyadong nakakaalam na apat ng Pilipino ang nanalo ng prestihiyong Pulitzer Prize for Journalism, Photography and Investigative Reporting.

Oo, Birhinya, apat yan, isa, dalawa, tatlo, apat. The Pulitzer Prize was set up by Joseph Pulitzer, a Hungarian-American publisher in 1917.

The award committee cited her touching picture of American soldiers saving a wounded civilian, and gave her journalism's highest honor in the breaking news photography category, plus 10,000 dollars that she would share with Leeson. Cheryl, who is also the recipient of the John Faber Award from the Overseas Press Club, has worked as senior staff photographer for the Dallas Morning News since 2002, travelling to different war zones at great risk to record remarkable photographs of people caught in conflicts not of their own making .

2. Alex Tizon of Seattle Times(1997)

For investigation of widespread corruption and inequities in the federally-sponsored housing program for Native Americans, which inspired much-needed reforms.

3. Byron Acohido of Seattle Times(1997 Beat Reporting)

Nakakabilib talaga, Cath. Kahit saan, andun tayo, from the Versace killing to Abu Gharib prison in Iraq. Masama at mabuti, we hit the news! The Pulitzer winners should also be given honors here at home if you ask me. Dapat lang.
