In some parts of the United States, the idea of citizen journalism is boosted by the widespread popularity of blogging and the series of scandals by well known journalists that destroyed public confidence to the mainstream media.

Although there are questions as to its business viability as regular source of income some advocates of this non-traditional journalism have already put up companies that promise payment for article submitted.
